John Newton is Vice President and Global Head, Drug Disposition - Projects, Standards and Innovation (DD-PSI) within the DSAR SCP. He is responsible for development of scientific strategies, innovation and standards in the area of metabolism and pharmacokinetics across the entire discovery / development value chain. Previously, he was Global Director, Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics. He has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility within sanofi-aventis and predecessor companies since 1992. He started his career in the pharmaceutical industry at Smith Kline and French Laboratories in 1983. He is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics, and the Society of Toxicology. He has received a number of awards for his scientific work and has published more than 60 articles in the areas of pharmacokinetics and metabolism, toxicokinetics, biochemical mechanisms of toxicity and the use of drug metabolism in drug discovery.
